Happy New Year!!! We began 2012 by packing up the van and driving about 4 hours to Fairmont Hot Springs, BC. We're staying at the Mountainside Villas for the first time and really enjoying it. It's really clean, spacious and great pools!
So far we've gone on two hikes, played a few games (one that took over 5 hours!), slept in, watched movies, eaten lots of food, and taken several pictures with our new camera! Today was warm but really windy so it was perfect for staying indoors. The view from the villa is beautiful so you kinda feel like you're outside even while sitting at the dining room table.
Our plans for the next few days include more hikes, time at the Fairmont Mineral Springs, snowshoeing (if we get any snow!) and maybe cross country skiing. I am totally surprised at the lack of snow here but it's nice to wander around and not be too freezing. I was also surprised to learn that Fairmont is 2658 ft above sea level and Calgary is 3438 so we actually came "down" to go into the mountains! Weird, eh?
I'll have to post pics later as the internet connection here is just too sporadic!

If you don't get any cross country skiing in at Fairmont, then perhaps we should think about making a day of it when we come out there in February provided there is some snow, sunshine and not below -10. There how's that for wanting it all!
