Happy New Year

Welcome to 2011!!! I always wonder what a new year will bring to our family with the knowledge that God is Sovereign and He loves me. We pray for blessings and easy living, but trust that the Lord will provide for us what He knows is best for us whether that be a year of plenty or a year of hardship. One thing I have learned in my years on this planet is that life almost NEVER happens the way we plan it!! We always have expectations and things rarely turn out just the way we expect them to... that, my friends, is called the ADVENTURE of living and I'm actually glad things don't turn out the way I plan or life would be fairly boring indeed.

That being said, there is still an innate desire in us to plan ahead so here are some things I would LIKE to have happen this year (in no particular order):

~ Lose 15 pounds and never find them again!
~ Build a closer walk with Jesus by taking my daily devotional time to the "next level".

~ Inject new life into the relationships I have with my friends, family, and church.
~ Help Anna finish well in the final stretch of her schooling.
~ Encourage Emily to grow and develop the skills she needs to succeed in life.
~ Support Laura in the decisions she makes as a young adult.
~ Be Kent's cheerleader and helper in whatever way he needs.

So, this is the outline for my blog this year... to keep myself accountable to these things and record my level of achievement, success, and sometimes the failures of this journey.

Life rarely turns out the way we expect, but we still need to have expectations. Funny, eh?

Well, lets get out there and adventure together! (can adventure be a verb?)

I feel that I haven't had a New Year yet! And here it is already Jan. 13. I usually take the time when I am putting the Christmas things away to reflect on the coming year, that will take place on Tuesday I hope.
Thanks for giving me some "idea starters" Lisa!
And I think adventure is a great verb, who cares about proper English!
