I found a great resource that is helping me with my new habits. It's called the 100 days calendar and it's from the blog www.aholyexperience.com Still LOVE this blog and I find it totally calming and inspiring at the same time. I've ordered her new book from work and look forward to reading it.
My first three habits on this 100 days calendar are:
Spiritual Growth
Drinking Water
Building into the lives of my family
So, on a typical day the entry will be:
Read Bible
Drink Water
Library w/ Emily
OR
Bible Study
Drink Water
Commute w/ LJ
Here's what I'm realizing. The Bible time is becoming more habitual and I look forward to my time there. Drinking water is still a struggle and there are quite often X's instead of checkmarks. Spending time with my kids has been easy so it looks like I've already built that time into my life and just didn't really realize it before! YAY!!
I might stop tracking the time spent with kids because it is such a built-in thing already and replace it with exercising.
I've also decided to stop tracking my weight (again!). It just frustrates me to no end. I ate 5 buttertarts a day for about 3 weeks straight at Christmas and weighed the same then as I do now after drinking 1 - 2 litres of water a day, doing a cardio workout 3 times a week, and eating more salads and healthy foods!!! GRRRRR.
So, the new idea is to just be healthy enough so I can run down the street or up the stairs without being out of breath. To have strong arms and legs so I can pick up small children and carry heavy groceries. To be happy with the body God made me and treat it well so I can live long and enjoy my future grandchildren (and greaters!).
Oh, and Kent & I have made a actual effort to have friends over to visit. It hasn't worked out with schedules yet, but we look forward to those connections as well.

Thanks for the encouraging comment Lisa! I love to learn about how God is so much bigger than I give Him credit for but also am terrified of how that lesson may be taught to me! Good for you, by the way...building healthy lifestyle habits can be such a challenge but the rewards are so immense. James and I are striving for that as well (exercise in particular) and I love how it draws us together and gives us something in common.
