Summer's Over

Well, summer is definitely over. I spent the better part of this afternoon cleaning up all the dead annuals in the backyard and putting away all the hanging baskets and pots. Feels good to have it nice and clean back there and now it's ready for snow - and according to the weather forecast we just might see another skiff of it this week.

With flowers put away for several months, our thoughts are turning to Christmas! The Christmas piano books are out and Anna & I are enjoying those old familiar carols. The decorations in the store have me thinking about plans for decorating this year. And, best of all, I'm thinking about my sister and her family coming to visit us for Christmas this year!!! Where to put everyone to sleep at night, how shall we organize the big turkey dinner, what activities do we want to do, and I'm really looking forward to relaxing evenings playing games and watching movies together. I'm praying for good driving weather on Christmas Eve then a big dump of snow for Christmas Day so there will be lots of snow to play in and go for those lovely sunny, cold, afternoon walks in the field with the dogs.

Time to go pull out the Christmas CD's!

Yep, I pulled out the CD's today too, haven't played any yet, but will put a couple on on Monday evening to help set the 'mood' for our Christmas Tea planning meeting. I think the smell of butter tarts will help too!
