What a beautiful photo you posted of a beautiful friend. So hard to say goodbye to such a faithful companion. Dad and I have been thinking of you guys tonight and just want you to know that we love you. Dad said that he still misses little Buffey and whenever I open a can of tuna I wait for Mischief to come running. So, the good memories will remain for a long, long time.

Oh Lisa...that is a beautiful photo! Definitely one Anna should paint. We will all miss Maxx too....he truly was a great fit for your family...he helped heal some wounds left by another dog and he has helped to train Toby to be a wonderful pet. And mom is right...the good memories won't be forgotten.

This photo of Maxx was taken in 2007 and it's been a long time since he was that healthy and looked that good. He's definitely been deteriorating in health for about a year and in these last few days he couldn't do the things he wanted to like jump up on the bed, play with us or with Toby, run up or down the stairs, etc. He was definitely tired of life and ready to be done.
I can't believe how hard this has been for Kent & I. The girls seem to be doing fine but it's certainly one of the most difficult things we've had to walk through. Thank you for your kind words, prayers, and support.
I'm looking forward to the day when we can talk about those good memories without bawling our eyes out!

I am truly at a loss of words at this moment, and I know this next week will allow life to fall back into routine, even though it is a new routine. To review past pictures of Maxx is to see just how far he deteriorated in the last few weeks, and to remember him, not as an old dog only, but for the life that he showed us as a dog full of energy and companionship. I will miss him for a long time and will also remember the time we had him as a blessing.

Thank you.
