Pic A Day Week 28

July 10 - 16

Ya-hooo!! Back in the saddle for blogging ;-)

This was Stampede week in Calgary. Technically it ran from July 8 - 17 and we went all day on the 8 (including the parade). I will probably post the pics soon as it was super-duper fun and we were privileged to share that day with our Nova Scotian friends, Ruth & Alex.

BUT, that is NOT this blog post. Here are the pics from THIS week!!

Laura and I took our young friends, MacKenzie and Olivia, to the Stampede for the day. Ya-hoo!!

That's a bit of cowboy cuteness right there, folks!

With so much rain this month we've been blessed with many beautiful rainbows!

On Saturday we went to Stampede with Logan and
Carolyn. Had fun with the vendors... our semi-annual
tradition.

Logan bought these knives. I expect garnishes like
this whenever I go to his house for dinner from
now on.

WARNING: All motorcycle post!!!

This week Anna & I did our motorcycle training at Too Cool Motorcycle School! This was one of the most difficult things I've ever done as I had to overcome many fears, physical restrictions, cold weather, and a HUGE learning curve but I am so glad I did this.

Our class was Monday - Thursday from 6 - 10:30pm every night. Did you catch that? FOUR and a half hours of riding four nights in a row!!! After the first night I was SO nervous to go back and after the second night I was ready to quit... it was just too hard and I made many mistakes. Thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, I went back and totally rocked it on the third night! On Thursday it snowed in the afternoon but Thursday night we actually did a  road ride with 15 students and 3 instructors riding all through Calgary, stopping for coffee then riding back to the school. I DID IT!!!

Now I need to practice on the Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 800 affectionately known around here as "Hopper". Once I'm confident on this bigger cruiser I'll take my Class 6 road test and be a bonafide motorcyclist.

One big lesson I learned this month is that it is so important to always stretch yourself and keep learning and growing. Whether it's spiritually, mentally, emotionally or physically... do the hard things and keep pressing on. It is totally worth it.

Pic A Day Week 18

May 1 - 7

Laura was missed by many while
she was in Asia
Pastor Dejan and Julie's girls had fun playing with our
pooches before we had to head back to Calgary.
Sisters re-united!!!

Laura graduated with her first year certificate
from the missions program at Vanguard Bible College. Three years
to go to get that degree!!

Laura, Anna and I took a spontaneous road-trip
to Kelowna. LOVED the flowers, blossoms
and green grass!
Time for a selfie!

Turtle on the log :-)

I think Laura's a little jet lagged.

This half of my contact lens was stuck in my
eye for a day and a half! Didn't even know that
could happen. EWWW!!!
Had a lovely time celebrating Heather Peters at her bridal shower.

Emily got her hair done for comicon. Yes, it's a temporary
dye but will take a few weeks to wash out.

Larger than life

Only one good reason for the bike to be parked here
STREET SWEEPERS!!!! YAY!!!

On Stephanie's birthday we went out to Ghost Lake to
replace the bear, plant a lilac bush, and remember
her life fully lived.

Steph and I shared a love of
Lilacs and Sweetpeas.

A beautiful place for my friend to finish her life here and graduate to her home in heaven.

Uh-oh. Stuck in the middle of nowhere!
Thankful for the lady who stopped to give us a boost.
Up at the crack of dawn and on our way to Edmonton to welcome Laura
home and move the girls out of their suite.

These friends have missed each other but will be
re-united in September for another year
of school together.

The Vanguard grad banquet was at this beautiful hotel.

Spring has sprung in Calgary and what a fabulous week for enjoying the beauty of God's creation!

Pretty toes and sandals
Loving Starbucks on the patio
Ready for take-off
Bugs on the windscreen.
Evidence of a great day!
Saw this newborn calf just minutes after being born.
Love the things we get to see while out riding the bike.
